Sequoia announced on Twitter that they invested in Bump Technologies. Bump made a iPhone app that allows easy exchange of contacts.
Why? Bumptech is proposing to replace the good old business card. Market size of that??? Huge!! They are basically betting that ease of use will create such a traction that it may even fight in the future with LinkedIn, just because this technology allow contact exchange (the same as linkedIn) but when people meet face to face (ie, conversion happens faster and in a more effective way than going home and invite someone to your network based on what you remember about him, his business cards,…).
I recently heard that we live in amazing times due to the technological shifts happening all day. I agree, Sequoia may have one of their best (and easy) investment. KISS (Keep it Simple) rocks!!!
Future possibilities: endless!!! Think Linkedin happening at a faster rate, ubiquous, everywhere, …
